AIRSWEEE 2.0 Workshop - Patna


Bihar Entrepreneurs Association, the executive Partner for AIRSWEEE 2.0 Workshop, under the aegis of TiE Global and TiE Women successfully organized the All-­‐India Road Showon Women’s Economic Empowerment through Entrepreneurship (Project AIRSWEEE 2.0) from March 14 to17, 2018 at the Hotel - The Panache, Patna.

AIRSWEEE 2.0 was a 4-day workshop funded and supported by US Mission in India, US Department of State, with a motive to empower Indian women through workshops in Tier II and Tier III cities including Lucknow, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Hubballi and Vadodara. Thirty young women entrepreneurs who underwent this workshop represented diverse sectors and were at different stages of business.

Highlights of the AIRSWEEE Patna Workshop

  • Jamie Dragon, Public D’affaires Officer, US Consulate, Kolkatta addressing the gathering shared his personal story of how his mother was an entrepreneur herself and how this program was close to his heart on the struggles a woman as an entrepreneur goes through.
  • An Expert talk by Mr. Manoj Ranjan, General Manager , Reserve Bank of India spoke on MSME: Promotions, financing and Development. He highlighted the various schemes like Startup India, PMEGP and other state -run schemes and also committed on providing a help desk to support the 30 mentees. This session was really well received and lots of doubts were clarified.
  • Mentees were appreciative of the quality of Mentors who handled the sessions. Various mentors and experts were brought in with high qualification and decision making capability to provide help to the mentees in real-time.
  • Valedictory session had the presence of Chief Guest, Hon Union Minister of State for Rural Development, Shri Ram Kripal Yadav ji, and Guest of Honour, Dr. Professor Maya Shankar ji, Noted Historian & Chairperson- SPICMACAY, Patna. All mentees were awarded with the certificates.
  • On the fourth day, the mentors headed towards an NGO named Nari Gunjan at Danapur in Patna which works towards empowering women and girls through education, specially the deprived section of the society, the Dalits, poor, landless & amp; rural women and girls. The NGO was established by Sudha Varghese in 1986 and she is running this NGO since then and is also a Padmashree.
  • Press conference was successful as more than 18 press reporters attended and more than 13 newspapers covered the event. Some of the mentees’ real time feedback was also covered in some top news papers
  • The NGO visit to Nari Gunjan and skill development centre was very useful to Mentors and mentees. Mentees also welcomed the plan and initiated to adopt women entrepreneurs as mentees and 5 mentees were chosen out of 30 from Patna workshop city by the mentors to be mentored for the next 6 months.
