AIRSWEEE 2.0 Workshop drew women across Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The chosen 30 Mentees considered themselves fortunate to be part of such a workshop by TIE Global and funded by US Mission. They were introduced to TIE and its charter.
The sessions were highly interactive with mentees narrating their personal experiences that led to sharing and understanding. The skit highlighting gender issues and sexual harassment at workplace evoked strong emotional responses with personal sharing of experiences. That broke the ice as women bonded on a common understanding.
The US mentors Komal and Caroline brought an international flavour to the workshop which was enriching for the mentees. The Indian mentors Geeta and Rita handled the ground reality specific to the city of Baroda. The mentees bonded well with all the mentors and sought personal time and attention. Sufficient time and importance was given to each topic, which ensured that all topics were covered sufficiently. The mentors were fully devoted to the mentees as the stay was residential under one roof and all time was utilised for mentoring even during dinner.
The case study of Ms.GeetaGarodia, Managing Director as well as the Indian mentor from Baroda and the visit to her industry proved to be a great learning experience for the mentees. It was a highlight of the workshop. She is the largest manufacturer and exporter of toothbrushes in Asia! A great time spent with her and her team. She also gifted each one with a box of toothbrushes along with sumptuous snacks! Her dedication along-with her simplicity and modesty was contagious.
Harshit’s session where he picked up company websites of a few mentees and analysed them with his expertise was exciting and educating as well. It was highly appreciated by all.
The role plays and group discussions were a huge hit as it brought out real life examples and added fun to learning while simultaneously helped the mentees to open up about their own personal challenges.
Sessions by Local Resource person especially from the industry helped Mentees get a firsthand understanding on topics like Government schemes, Legal compliances, Funding options etc.
The venue was good and arrangements were well planned. The welcome kit with the content of the four days’ workshop given to them was useful.
The Press conference before the inaugural event was successful as more than 10 press reporters attended and more than 4 news channels covered the event. Some of the mentees’ real time feedback was also covered in some top newspapers.
The visit to Shroff Foundation was amazing as it is one of the best run NGO’s in the country focused on all round development of the villages around Baroda.
Caroline’s idea of doing a mock pitch deck with the mentees was a huge hit. They got hands on experience of how a pitch is made in front of a rude and snooty VC! Pitching for funding from a VC was not easy they realised!
The mentors had individual sessions with many of them to clear personal queries about their businesses. Some of them with emotional problems sought individual counselling sessions too from Rita Aggarwal.
